FromSoftware has announced a version of updated boss battles for Elden Ring: Nightreign, providing a tougher and brutal "Everdark Sovereign" version of fan-favorite Nightlords throughout July.
These updates aim to keep players on their toes and deepen the roguelike experience of Limveld.
Weekly Rotating Boss Events
From July 10 to 31, players can face power-ups of elite Nightlords in timed cycles:
- July 10-17: Gaping Jaw paired with Darkdrift Knight
- July 17-24: Sentient Pest alongside Darkdrift Knight
- July 24-31: Gaping Jaw with Sentient Pest
These encounters return to let the players rematch with the early bosses, who, since the updates, are heavily buffed and more punishing.
End of July Escalation
Sources on X and GamesRadar+ confirm that on July 31, Nightreign will increase the pressure with modified versions of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog. These upper level bosses are expected to set the bar up for difficulty.
Smooth Boss Fights with Bug Fixes
A mid-July small update fixed some technical issues that occurred during the Sentient Pest battle, ensuring bosses are shown correctly and don't glitch outside battle arenas.
Ongoing Updates That Make Nightreign Better
Since June, FromSoftware has been regularly updating Elden Ring: Nightreign to make the gameplay smoother, fairer, and more enjoyable, especially for players playing solo.
One major update, Patch 1.01.1, added features that helped players who prefer playing alone. These features include Automatic Revival, which brings your character back to life after losing the battle, and better rune rewards, which means players can earn more for the efforts that they put in.
Later, Patch 1.01.3 improved the balance of the game by adjusting how some weapons work. It fixed errors that were creating problems in multiplayer mode and also improved the camera movement to make the game better.
These updates are helping you get prepared for the game that will have tougher boss battles releasing soon.
On July 31, 2025, FromSoftware hinted at a big event, calling it the start of a "new Everdark cycle." Fans on platforms like GamesRadar+ and Reddit got super excited, especially since these kinds of teases usually mean some extremely difficult challenges are coming.
However, a coin has two sides; not everyone is happy with this news. While many players enjoy the thrill of fighting stronger bosses, some are frustrated that these fights are only available temporarily. Players are requesting the developers to make these bosses available permanently so they don't have to miss out. We hope they listen to your request.
These happening updates do more than just add content to the game; they are here to help the game stay fun and challenging, making it difficult and keeping you curious.
By bringing back older bosses with more dangerous and difficult personalities, the game gives experienced players a reason to come back and keep testing their skills.
The new game features require more teamwork and smarter strategies, which fit well with Nightreign's lousy style, where every run is unique and unidentical and survival depends on your decisions.
All these changes show that FromSoftware is listening to its community. They have been fixing the bugs, improving the multiplayer balance, and even responding to fans suggestions, like the upcoming two-player co-op feature called Duo Expeditions.
The occurrence with the modified bosses will end on July 31 with four of the hardest battles yet. After that, in August, players can expect the launch of Duo Expeditions, which lets two players team up and explore the game together. This new mode was highly awaited, as it was the most requested by the fans.
There is also talk of a major DLC, which means downloadable content is coming soon. This would likely add new areas, more bosses, and deeper storylines that are connected to the mysterious Nightlords.
With stronger bosses, many frequent updates, and new modes on the way, Elden Ring: Nightreign is enhancing and evolving into an even richer experience. Whether you are returning to challenge the new "Everdark Sovereigns" or waiting to jump into co-op with a friend, now is the perfect time to play. FromSoftware is proving that they are committed to keeping the game alive and exciting for everyone.
