Born in Morocco on May 14, 1996, then moving to Canada with her family in her early childhood, Imane Anys has become popularly known as Pokimane.
Anys was actions at a bilingual household and thus, learned French as her first language. Her initial studies were in chemical engineering, attending McMaster University.
Her passion for gaming and content-driven persuasion led her to disown her college education and fully dedicate her to streaming. This was the step that made her the most followed female streamer on Twitch.
As a Twitch streamer, Pokimane developed her content by adding a personal touch. During her Twitch debut in 2013, Pokimane was making use of a $250 PC that was acquired after reaching the Platinum level in League of Legends.
Just 4 years after, her followers on the platform had reached 450,000, and she was classified as one of the 100 most followed accounts on Twitch, winning the Best Twitch Streamer at the Shorty Awards.
Over time, her streams began to extend past League of Legends and also introduced Fortnite, Valorant, Among Us, and more with a gentle, friendly, and engaging attitude.
This approach was very homely and refreshing, making viewers feel as though they were conversing with a friend, instead of simply watching a streamer.
Pokimane used an ASMR channel called Poki ASMR and several other YouTube accounts to broaden her reach. Also, she helped set up OfflineTV, a collaborative content house, in 2017, where she and her co-workers lived and created together.
In 2023, she graduated from her full-time membership, yet she makes sure to be in touch with the group's ethos and content partnerships.
In addition, she assumed creative director role at the clothing brand Cloak, played a cameo in the movie Free Guy, and was featured in Bella Poarch's music video Inferno.
In the middle of 2024, she retired her autograph for over private donations to charity and hosted her a private gaming session, the winners of which were able to bid for.
Pokimane has over 9 million followers on Twitch, which makes her the most followed female streamer on the platform.
With all her achievements, she has also stressed the importance of mental health, sharing the emotional cost of constantly streaming to perform and produce.
She was the rare example of streamers to set a cap on donations to her channel which, to a certain extent, reduces the emotional burden.
It is a clear indication of how much she cares for her well-being along with the well-being of the people in her community.
Pokimane, whose real name is Imane Anys, is known for keeping her romantic life very private. As of 2025, she is heard to be single, and has emphasized that she prefers not to go public with her relationships to avoid the eyes and scrutiny or emotional fallout.
Multiple reputable sources estimate Pokimane’s net worth to be around $6 million, reflecting her sustained success across Twitch streaming, YouTube content, sponsorships, brand ventures (like her cookie brand Myna and her role with RTS Management), and investments.
The reach of Pokimane extends much further than just streaming. In mid-2024, she auctioned off a private gaming session for charity, going to the highest bidder for $500,000, with the proceeds going to the Immune Deficiency Foundation.
She has said openly that she turned down a $3 million sponsorship deal, emphasizing that she would rather have authenticity than profit. It is her natural authenticity, her selective and smart partnership decisions, her personable approach to fans, that makes her, more than a streamer, a digital icon.
