Arc Raiders voice chat not working? Here’s how to fix proximity chat, party chat and mic issues on PC, PS5 and Xbox with easy step-by-step solutions. Photo by: ARC Raiders
I’ll be honest nothing kills the vibe in a multiplayer game faster than broken voice chat. The first time I jumped into Arc Raiders, my mic wasn’t working at all.
I could hear my squad perfectly… but they couldn’t hear me. I looked like a mime emoting in combat while my team shouted, “BRO SAY SOMETHING.”

If you’re dealing with Arc Raiders voice chat not working, party chat not working on PC, or Arc Raiders proximity chat not working, this guide will walk you through the exact fixes that actually solve it.
Arc Raiders uses a mix of system input, in-game audio routing, and network permissions. So when voice chat breaks, it’s usually one of these:
Wrong input device selected
Windows or console blocking microphone access
Push-to-talk disabled
Broken proximity chat state
NAT type or network interference
Game files corrupted
The good news? You can fix almost all of these in minutes.
This is the #1 reason Arc Raiders mic not working happens.
Go to:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
Make sure these are ON:
Microphone access
Allow desktop apps to use microphone
Then go to:
Settings → System → Sound → Input
Select your actual mic, not “Default.”
(Don’t laugh - mine was set to “Virtual Audio Cable” for months.)
Inside Arc Raiders:
Settings → Audio → Voice Chat
Make sure:
Voice chat: Enabled
Input: correct microphone
Output: headset or speakers
Mode: Open mic or push-to-talk (not mute)
Now test proximity chat - walk near another player and look for the mic icon.
A weird trick that works:
Switch from Open Mic → Push-to-Talk → restart game → switch back.
It resets the internal voice channel.
If the party chat won't work but game chat does, check your third-party software:
Discord input takeover
Nvidia Broadcast
SteelSeries Sonar
Voicemeeter
Arc Raiders sometimes listens to the wrong virtual channel.
Disable extra routing and set your mic as system default before launching the game.
Proximity chat uses network rules - so if it's silent, do this:
Enable cross-play
Disable VPN
Switch NAT type to Open
Optional but surprisingly effective:
Disable IPv6 (many players said this fixed it)
Steps:
Network → Adapter Properties → Uncheck IPv6 → Restart
It feels hacky, but it works.
Game Base → Voice Chat Settings
Turn OFF “Mute Game Voice Chat”
Set mic to “Allow always”
Also check:
Settings → Sound → Input Device
Settings → Account → Privacy
Enable cross-network communication
Make sure party chat isn’t prioritized over game chat
If none of the fixes worked, corrupted files might be the issue.
Steam:
Library → Arc Raiders → Right-click → Properties → Installed Files → Verify
Restart after.
Especially if you use:
Logitech G Hub
Razer Synapse
Corsair iCue
SteelSeries GG
Update firmware - Arc Raiders sometimes refuses outdated drivers.
If nothing works, run these in order:
Set correct mic as system default
Enable microphone permissions
Reset audio mode in-game
Disable IPv6
Update drivers
Verify game files
Restart game and system
One of these will fix it for 95% of players.

Getting Arc Raiders voice chat working shouldn’t require the patience of assembling IKEA furniture, but here we are. The good news is once you dial in your microphone, it usually stays fixed.
